On my way to the Frank Lloyd Wright house to have a look at their windows (We're hosting an exhibition on the Light Screens of Frank Lloyd Wright in November. Check out www.celebratefranklloydwright.org for the info.), I popped into the DAV and it was packed. It's the new hot lunch spot, I guess.
There wasn't much to be found, but sometimes I think that what you don't buy is as interesting as what you do buy:
A giant soup tureen shaped like an artichoke--the artichoke that ate Manhattan.
A set of little fruit bowls (8, but some had small dings and chips) with a very modern cat tail pattern made up of little lines and circles.
A couple of really nice glass pitchers. Generally, I think that you can't have enough glass pitchers because I am personally always breaking them. But, my cupboards are currently full of fantastic pitchers, so I passed.
One of those little Frankoma leaf dishes. The super-tiny ones? I'm currently obsessed with them--all sizes. This one was the brownish color, but had some little chips on it, so I passed it up. There were also a couple of great candlesticks in prairie green, but they were pricey and not my color.
See, I can pass things up! Next time, I'm taking my camera.
